Supervisor Role

Purpose of Job
To help organise all staff to ensure that every child in the setting is safe and happy.
To ensure the development and delivery of an activity programme which is appropriate to children’s ages and stages in development
To ensure that all our policies, procedure, protocols and guidelines are followed as well as compliance with all legislation, guidance or protocols issued by regulators

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the development and delivery of an activity programme which is appropriate to children’s ages and stages in development
Ensure that activities are planned sensitively to take account of
and cultural needs of children
Initiate activities to promote the integration of children with additional needs
Deputise on morning and afternoon sessions when necessary
Help prepare and fully set up the rooms before the children arrive; check and tidy the hall, kitchen and toilets after they leave
Ensure good hygiene standards are achieved and well maintained
Provide high quality care and education by helping plan and carry out for each day, a wide variety of activities and equipment to stimulate and support all children’s needs
Maintain a safe environment when in group
Ensure all equipment is well maintained and safe to use
Supervise staff on a day-to-day basis
Undertake regular, full and in-depth observations of key children and their activities
Keep and maintain proper records of achievement on file on key children for parents/carers
Advise the manager of any matter requiring attention such as concerns about a child
Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the work place ensuring setting policies and procedures are observed at all times
Maintain the standards set out in our policies especially those on equal opportunities and confidentiality
Be responsible for maintaining a very high standard within group when the manager is engaged with new parents or visitors
Attend relevant out of hour courses, meetings or case conferences as required by the management
Take part in special events and visits
Be responsible for festive events at the setting and the resources necessary for relevant activities
Be responsible for the purchase of all perishable items needed for the curriculum activities and for ensuring all extra resources are available
Be responsible for the first aid box and ensure that all contents are correct, sterile and in date. Request new stock when necessary
Together with the Manager, be responsible for safeguarding and child protection and liaising with and providing guidance, attention and support for families/carers and children

Person Specification
At least 2 years’ experience of working with children (4- 11 years old) in a play or sports environment in a supervisory position
An appropriate qualification (e.g., in play-work, childcare, teaching or sports leadership) level 2 or 3
Must hold current First Aid, Health and Safety and Food and Hygiene certificates
Ability to communicate at all levels, with children, staff and parents alike
Ability to lead and inspire a team of activity leaders
Enthusiasm, flexibility and a positive attitude to work is essential
Must be prepared to attend regular in-house training as well as First Aid, Safeguarding and other relevant courses as necessary
Must pass strict safeguarding checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure
